Set up a custom domain, step by step

Put your previews on your own address, like previews.yourstudio.com, with automatic SSL. You add two DNS records at your domain provider, and we handle the certificate. Available on Pro and Studio.

The steps

  1. Add the subdomain in Settings. In Settings, add the subdomain you want to use, such as previews.yourstudio.com.
  2. SiteViewer shows you two records. Once you add the subdomain, SiteViewer shows you two records to add at your registrar.
  3. The first record points the address at us. This is the routing record. It tells visitors where your previews live.
  4. The second record proves you own the domain. This lets the secure padlock be issued for your address.
  5. Add both at your registrar and save. Enter both records exactly as shown, then save your changes.

Where to add them

  • Find the DNS section. GoDaddy, Cloudflare, Namecheap and most providers have a DNS or Records section where you add the entries.
  • Copy exactly. Copy the Name and Value exactly as SiteViewer shows them, with no extra spaces or characters.
  • Let the provider finish the host. Many providers append your domain automatically, so paste the full host and accept their suggested correction.
Tip

Records can take a few minutes to take effect. Once they do, SiteViewer issues and renews the SSL certificate for you, with no certificate steps on your side.
