Add a passkey (Touch ID or Face ID)
A passkey lets you sign in with your fingerprint or face, with nothing to type. Here is how to add one, and how to control which device or password manager holds it.
How to add one
- Open Account, then the Signing in area.
- Choose Add a passkey.
- Approve it with Touch ID, Face ID or your device.
- It now appears in your passkey list.
Where your passkey is saved
- Your device's built-in store. Such as iCloud Keychain on a Mac, which gives you the native Touch ID prompt.
- A password manager. Like 1Password, which handles the prompt itself.
- If both are installed. Your device chooses which to offer, and you can pick at the prompt.
Tip
If you want the native fingerprint prompt every time, save the passkey to your device's own keychain rather than a password manager.
